StringMap privacy policy

Updated September 6, 2026. Applies to the first App Store release for iPhone and iPad.

On-device practice

StringMap includes 12 original beginner lessons and 18 original guitar exercises. Notation, tablature, audio playback, and fretboard positions are generated on your device. Your library, tutorial progress, and practice settings stay in the app. Device backups may include this data according to your Apple backup settings.

There are no customer accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or music uploads. This release does not include photo scanning and does not request access to your camera or photo library. StringMap does not collect data from the app or operate a cloud library.

Local playback

The bundled alphaTab renderer and guitar SoundFont run through an isolated web view and a private loopback connection on your device. This connection does not send music to a server. Exercises and saved music work offline.

Your choices

You can remove a saved library item or delete the app to remove its local data. Removing a saved exercise does not remove the bundled original; you can open it again from Learn → Free Practice. Deleting the app does not delete earlier device backups.

Support website and email

Opening a public support or policy link connects to GitHub Pages. GitHub processes website visitors' network information under its privacy statement: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement . Our website has no advertising or analytics scripts.

If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request. Please do not include passwords or other sensitive information.
